Earth Day Sparks a Local Revolution: ECO.lution
(Downtown Tampa, FL) – A week of interactive events, concerts, cocktails and family activities is coming to Downtown Tampa.  Fun and educational -ECO.lution will showcase innovative solutions that will make Tampa a sustainable city for future generations. A local organization, The Urban Charrette is hosting the series of events at unique downtown locations, April 17th – 22nd.
"ECO.lution gives our community a chance for a fresher, more vibrant, sustainable future and is a magnet for creative energy; providing an attraction for a very diverse group of citizens" describes Linda Saul-Sena, a Tampa city councilwoman.  The primary goal of ECO.lution is to educate Bay area residents about elements of a sustainable city, “but we are planning this in a way that is entertaining and interactive," said Urban Charrette’s co-founder, Adam Fritz.
Four free events are planned during the week including an Earth Day movie on the lawn at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.  Paint the Town Green, a Friday evening event where you can ride HART’s Green Line and the TECO Street Car to bars and galleries in and around downtown.  An event planned for Architects and Designers will be Project | ZERO – an architecture and interior design green products show.  The largest event, ECO.lution Festival will be held on Saturday April 19th in Lykes Gaslight Park and will include a green products exhibition, food, family entertainment and children’s crafts.
ECO.lution has partnered with the University of South Florida and the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission to be part of Going Green Tampa Bay.  “We want people to recognize the challenges that face Tampa’s future, then we can work together to develop real and creative solutions,” says Fritz.
Taryn Sabia, co-founder of the Urban Charrette, noted that Tampa “has a great tradition of community events like Gasparilla and we are planning for a huge turn-out during ECO.lution week.”
The Urban Charrette was founded in 2007 with the goal of helping people build livable communities through leadership and collaboration.
